Dead Disco - Metric

Lyrics:

push it to the east coast
Step down turn around
push it to the west
Need less, use less
we’re asking for too much I guess
Cause all we get is…

Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
La la la la la la la la la la

Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
La la la la la la la la la la

Tits out, pants down
Overnight to London
Touch down, look around
Everyone’s the same
World wide, air tight
No one’s got a face left to blame
And all we get is…

Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
La la la la la la la la la la

Dead disco
Dead funk
Dead rock and roll
Remodel
Everything has been done
La la la la la la la la la la

I know, I know you tried to change things
I know, I know you tried to change
I know, I know you tried to change things
I know you tried to change
I know

Thoughts:

That's just it. We all know disco is dead. Funk is in a coma, and rock and roll is slowly dying.

Everything has been done. We need to remodel. Start over. Clean slate. She is pretty much saying that we are all the same, we have no originality whatsoever.

You could look at this a different way though. Emily Haines could be saying that what genres we think to be dead only need a remodel to come back to life. Switch it up a bit and it'll be popular again.

This scream-o bullcrap makes my ears bleed, this Bieber child is way too whiney, and Drake? He talks into a damn microphone. What is so awesome about that? Talented? Nah. He should give me a damn lecture.

We need to resurrect the classics. Bring back the Who, the Rolling Stones, the Doors. Classic. Nothing like them. Even some artists think the same, when they use backtracks to their so-called "songs." Lame. Write your own crap or don't be in the business at all.
